"In the Heart of the Tempest"ACT I (15 minutes)FADE IN: Scene 1: Forest Road/Car Breakdown (2 min)EXT. FOREST ROAD - NIGHT (2 mins) A raging thunderstorm. Torrential rain pounds the pavement. HEADLIGHTS cut through the deluge as a BLUE SEDAN navigates cautiously down the winding road. INT. BLUE SEDAN - CONTINUOUS LUCY PARKER, 30s, grips the steering wheel tightly. She checks the rearview mirror nervously. Worry creases her face. Lightning flashes illuminate her bruises. The car SPUTTERS and dies. Lucy cranks the ignition to no avail. She slams her hands against the wheel in frustration. Resigned, Lucy takes a deep breath and steps out into the stormy night.Scene 2: Cabin Arrival (3 min)EXT. FOREST ROAD - CONTINUOUS (3 mins) Huddled under a blanket, Lucy trudges through the mud. Thunder RUMBLES overhead. In the distance, a faint light glows through the trees. Lucy heads toward it as the wind lashes rain against her. EXT. CABIN IN THE WOODS - NIGHT A modest but cozy cabin, windows aglow with warm light. Smoke curls from the chimney. Lucy stands at the door, shivering and soaked. She knocks tentatively. The door swings open, revealing TOMMY BROOKS, 40s, unshaven, his wrinkled clothes streaked with ink stains. He squints at Lucy, confused. LUCY My car broke down. I just need a phone. TOMMY Don't have one. He moves to close the door, but hesitates at her desperation. Sighing, he steps aside to let her in.Scene 3: Getting to Know Each Other (5 min)INT. TOMMY'S CABIN - NIGHT (5 mins) Tommy adds a log to the fireplace. Lucy sheds her wet blanket and holds her hands toward the flames. An antique typewriter sits on the desk beside dog-eared books and crumpled pages. LUCY You're a writer? Tommy just nods, avoiding eye contact. LUCY (CONT'D) I don't want to impose. Just need to get dry and wait out the storm. TOMMY Take the couch. He shuffles off. Lucy makes herself comfortable as the wind HOWLS outside.Scene 4: Developing Bond (5 min)INT. TOMMY'S CABIN - LATER THAT NIGHT (5 mins) Tommy lies awake, restless. On the couch, Lucy tosses and turns, crying out as if in a nightmare. Tommy goes to her and gently wakes her. She bolts up in alarm but relaxes when she sees him. He hands her a blanket. LUCY Thank you. They share a look of mutual pain and empathy.ACT II (20 minutes)Scene 5: Clearing the Road (3 min)INT. TOMMY'S CABIN - MORNING (3 mins) Sunlight filters through the windows. Lucy helps Tommy cook breakfast. They chat and laugh with growing camaraderie. EXT. FOREST ROAD - DAY (3 mins) Tommy and Lucy work to clear a fallen tree blocking the road. As they talk, Lucy's stories inspire a spark of creativity in Tommy's eyes.Scene 6: Tommy Writing Again (4 min)INT. TOMMY'S CABIN - NIGHT (4 mins) The storm still rages outside. Tommy sits typing swiftly on his typewriter, fully absorbed. Lucy reads in a chair beside the fire. She smiles, seeing Tommy's passion reignited.Scene 8: Ethan Arrives (3 minutes)EXT. CABIN - NIGHT (3 mins) A black SUV pulls up. The headlights shut off, leaving only darkness.Scene 9: Confrontation and Fire (5 minutes)INT. CABIN - NIGHT (5 mins) Lucy sleeps by the dying fire. Tommy types away feverishly, caught in creative flow. Suddenly, the cabin door BURSTS open on squeaking hinges. ETHAN MITCHELL, 40s, storms in like a madman with wild eyes. Lucy jolts awake in terror. Ethan grabs her arm forcefully. Tommy jumps up, shocked. ETHAN Thought you could run from me? Lucy struggles in vain as Ethan's grip tightens. TOMMY Let her go! Ethan pulls out a gun, stopping Tommy in his tracks. ETHAN Stay out of this. Lucy knees Ethan in the groin and breaks free. Ethan FIRES the gun wildly. Tommy leaps and knocks Ethan down. They crash through the side window, shattering glass. EXT. CABIN - CONTINUOUS Tommy and Ethan fight in the mud. Ethan pistol-whips Tommy hard, knocking him out. He turns back to the cabin where Lucy cowers against the wall, sobbing. Ethan marches toward her, then stops, sniffing the air. Flames lick up the curtains from the knocked-over lantern within. Smoke billows from the windows as the cabin is swiftly engulfed. Lucy races outside into the rain. Flames consume the old timbers. The roof collapses in an explosion of sparks.ACT III (15 minutes)Scene 10: Aftermath of the Fire (5 min)EXT. CHARRED CABIN - DAWN (5 mins) As the sun rises, Tommy and Lucy survey the smoking ruins. The storm has passed at last. Sirens WAIL in the distance. Tommy puts a comforting hand on Lucy's shoulder. She gives him a bittersweet smile. A new day dawns.Scene 11: Decision to Testify (3)EXT. ROADSIDE - DAY (3 mins) Lucy, with Tommy's encouragement, decides to face her past and testify against her ex-boyfriend. Tommy agrees to accompany her, leaving his secluded life behind.Scene 12: Driving Away/Fresh Start (5 min)EXT. FOREST ROAD - DAY (2 mins) As they drive away, the charred remains of the cabin and the old typewriter are seen one last time - a symbol of a past life and the birth of a new chapter.
